What Is The Appropriate Treatment For Duodenal Tumors?

My sister was diagnosed with a colon tumor, she had surgery but still ordered chemo, but because I often hear about side effects after chemo, I don’t dare to have any suggestions for other treatments, isn’t she only 32 years old, thanks before that?

Hi,
First of all, I want to thank you for asking questions on HealthReplies.com. I will try to help answer your question,
Colon cancer or tumor is a type of tumor that usually occurs at any age, although 90% of patients are over 60 years old. Usually this condition causes several symptoms such as:
1. The presence of blood in the stool
2. Stools that are felt to be getting harder or have diarrhea
3. Weight loss
4. Body Tired
5. Stomach bloating
6. Decreased appetite
Because it eats after it is confirmed that an individual has colon cancer using a colonoscopy, usually the doctor will recommend therapy depending on the severity of the cancer. If your sister has had surgery to remove the cancer and is advised to continue with chemotherapy, it means that it is very important to do this to increase the chances of your sister's life. Because only with surgery, there are still residual tumors in your sister's colon that still have the possibility to spread. After the operation, the doctor will usually suggest doing,
1. Chemotherapy aims to kill cancer cells in your brother's colon by using drugs given in the form of tablets or infusions such as cetuximab or bevacizumab. The goal of chemotherapy after surgery is to prevent the cancer from reappearing. But of course there are side effects such as nausea, vomiting, hair loss, fatigue, diarrhea, canker sores.
2. Radiotherapy which has the same goal as chemotherapy but is carried out with radiation which aims to reduce the size of the tumor which has almost the same side effects as chemotherapy.
Therefore, you should consult again with the doctor who performed the operation with your sister, what is the next step that should be taken considering that your doctor has known your sister's history in more detail.
