White Patches Appear In The Area Of the Former Mucocele Surgery?
Morning doctor. I illa 23th I have done mucocele surgery on my lower lip in only 3 days. Then the scar area appears white “I clean it can not disappear. Is it dangerous and why does my lips feel sore and painful?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Mucocele is a disorder of the salivary glands that often occurs. Mucocele can occur in the tear glands, nasal sinuses, oral cavity, appendix, or gallbladder. Lumps formed due to changes in the salivary glands which then accumulates mucus therein. The lower lip is the most common location of the mucocele which is probably due to the lip biting habit. The diagnosis is made by a very typical physical examination.
Mucocele are usually asymptomatic but sometimes cause discomfort when talking, chewing, or swallowing. The treatment can be several ways such as excision, cryotherapy, or laser excision. What is often done is a conventional technique that is by making an elliptical excision then lifts the lump up to the muscle layers and small salivary glands around it to prevent recurrence, then suturing.
After the anesthetic effect disappears, the scar will be painful due to tissue injury during the procedure. This is normal for a few days of healing.
Take control back to the doctor if there are complaints on the scar. In addition to the doctor will also assess the condition of the wound, whether the stitches are tightly closed, whether an infection has occurred, whether the wound is clean and so forth.
Thus, hopefully can help
