Why After Eating Rice Always Stuck In The Right Throat
Doc why, after I eat rice or other food, the food is stuck in the right throat, I have tonsillitis, is the food stuck in the tonsils?
Hello Noval Kurniawan,
The sensation of a foreign body in the throat or as if it is involved in a persistent throat is called the globus sensation. Various causes / conditions that can cause a globus sensation are:
Inflammation in the pharynx, larynx, tonsils (tonsils)
Tonsilithiasis (tonsil stones)
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (stomach acid disease)
Sphincter disorders of the esophagus (esophagus)
Tumor in the throat
Enlargement of the thyroid gland
Psychological disorders such as anxiety disorders
Foreign objects that get stuck (like bones). If there is a foreign object that goes into the throat, of course the patient will immediately cough and if a large object will arise shortness of breath.
Soft foods like rice will easily be swallowed into the digestive tract through the esophagus, not sticking and sticking to the tonsils for a long time. Saliva produced and released into the oral cavity helps the process of swallowing. If there is attached and there is discomfort due to food, gargling or swallowing water / other foods will eliminate the sensation of the foreign body.
Foreign body sensation in the throat can occur in the condition of tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils). In addition, patients can also experience complaints of swallowing pain, swollen tonsils and redder color than the surrounding tissue, the presence of white lesions in the tonsils, enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, and some people may experience fever. For patients who have chronic tonsillitis, to prevent recurrent acute attacks, you should avoid smoking, drinking more water, gargling with warm water + salt 3-4 times a day can reduce the discomfort in the throat, eat clean foods, pay attention to cleanliness teeth and oral cavity.
* In the midst of this covid-19 outbreak, limit traveling outside the home, including not going to a health facility if there is nothing urgent to be seen, compulsory control - continued chronic medication, or no emergency. If you have to go to a health facility, obey and follow the steps to prevent Covid-19 transmission that you have to do.
Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
