Why Do Children Often Close Their Eyes While Closing Their Mouths?
Asalamualaikum ?, I have a 3.5-year-old boy, for this month he often closed his eyes while closing his mouth and it repeated every time. I’m afraid it will carry over into adulthood, why huh?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
First of all, I want to confirm first, is your child aware of your child doing that or does your child look confused when you tell him?
If your child is conscious while doing it (meaning your child is doing it deliberately), chances are your child is imitating the behavior of others. Other people who are meant to be his parents, caregivers, friends, or imitate people on television. Basically, children aged 3.5 years have a good understanding, so you can ask your child to stop the habit. Let them know that the habit is not good and is not polite to do. You can also ask your child why your child is doing it or if there are other people he is doing. If your child is imitating someone else, then you must also tell that person to stop doing the same thing.
Eliminating a habit in children is not easy, so do not scold the child or threaten the child because of this. If the child is still repeating it, always tell your child patiently.
If your child is not aware of doing it or your child looks confused after doing it, then maybe your child has a seizure. You should take your child to the pediatrician if the child does that unconsciously.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
