Why Does The Nose Get Blocked And Sore Throat When I Wake Up?
Hi! Doctor What causes nasal congestion and sore throat when I wake up in the morning?
Hello Rani, thank you for asking.
The condition, as you have experienced it, may be a form of allergic rhinitis or it can also be vasomotor rhinitis. This condition is an atopic condition, autoimmune due to an overworked immune system. Some people experience symptoms of sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose and eyes, itching of the nose, eyes, and throat. Some people may experience symptoms of coughing or discomfort in the throat. Generally the symptoms occur at certain times, such as when I wake up or want to sleep, when there is a change in air temperature, or when changing certain sleep positions, and so on.
Symptoms are generally harmless and can disappear on their own in minutes or hours, without the need for treatment. Although this rhinitis cannot be cured, you can try to reduce the recurrence. Do regular exercise at least 3-5 times a week, clean the room from dust and piles of goods, improve ventilation and solar lighting in rooms and homes.
You can also consult with the doctor to make sure there are no other things besides rhinitis, such as nasal polyps or nasal septum deviation. Thus my brief explanation, hopefully can help.
