Why Even Though It Has Been Treated With Pinworm There Has Been No Change?
Hello … I want to ask, my child has been experiencing a pinworm problem for a long time … it’s been treated.
Good evening, thanks for the question
Pinworm infections are caused by Enterobius or Oxyuris vermicularis intestinal nematodes. Transmission of worm eggs occurs both directly and indirectly through hands or other objects that have been contaminated.
Common symptoms include itching in the anus that often interferes with sleep, irritation due to scratching on the skin around the anus, the discovery of worms in the anal area, or in the patient's feces.
Treatment options can be given mebendazole, albendazole or pyrantel pamoate. Worm medicine is consumed one dose and repeated 2 weeks later with the aim to eradicate all stages of the worm including eggs. We recommend that all family members are also advised to be given treatment. Consult with your doctor for administering the right dose of medication.
It is also important to take preventative measures by washing hands with soap before eating and when preparing food, leaving the nails short, not scratching the anal area, avoiding the habit of biting nails, and cleaning toys or objects that come in direct contact with sufferers. Patients are also advised to take a shower every morning to eradicate worm eggs, routinely change underpants and sheets, and wash sufferers' clothes using hot water.
That's all, hope you can help
