Why Eyelids Can Be Different?
good afternoon doctor. My right and left eyelids are different, how come? I have dimples on the right and my right eyelid is bigger than the left eyelid. Is this eyelid difference really affected by the existence of dimples?
Thank you for the question.
Most people do have eyelids (eyelids) that are not exactly the same between left and right, both the size, shape, and number of folds. This is very natural, and usually appears related to the formation of organs since they are still in the womb. So, it is not solely affected by the existence of dimples on your cheeks. Genetic and racial factors are thought to strongly influence this condition.
Provided that your different eyelid condition is not too significant and does not interfere with its function, this condition really does not need to mess around. But indeed, in some cases, this eyelid difference can also refer to a disease, for example ptosis, blepharitis, kalazion, benign or malignant tumors, preseptal cellulitis, contact dermatitis, nerve disorders around the eyes, and so on. Therefore, if the eyelid difference is very significant, or causes you to be constrained when you see and other activities, it is good that you continue to see it directly to the doctor or ophthalmologist. Depending on the cause, your condition can later be treated differently, there are enough to be observed, given medicine Or surgery may also be performed.
I hope this helps.
