Why Since I Was A Kid I Was Always Afraid Of Loud Sounds Like Sirens?
hello my doctor is 20 years old, since childhood I have always been afraid of the sound. voice specifications such as car sirens, electronic sounds that are too loud, and sounds that don’t stop repeating (except for wall clocks). I feel dizzy, nervous, restless, scared and I will definitely cry. Do I have phobias in sounds or what kind of doctor? thanks.
Hello, thanks for asking.
Unreasonable, excessive, uncontrollable, and unreasonable fear is a phobia. Phobias are very diverse types and can occur to anyone, not limited to age, gender, or certain race. Phobias can be categorized as anxiety disorders. If not treated, phobias can cause a person to be depressed, paranoid, panic, or shut themselves out of various activities. Symptoms in physical form also vary, generally can be:
dizziness or vertigo
a cold sweat
hard to breathe
heartburn or want to urinate
The cause is also unclear and most phobias have not been well described because there are too many phobias. Suspected traumatic events in a person's past, genetic factors, or changes in the structure and function of the central nervous system in the brain, can trigger phobias. In your case several possible types of phobias that you can experience are:
misophonia, fear of certain types of sounds that can trigger feelings of anxiety, fear, anger, or hate for the sound.
phonophobia or ligyrophobia, fear of loud noises, whether sudden or continuous. Sometimes it causes sleeplessness because at night the sound of the environment becomes more real.
hyperacusis, a condition in which a person has excessive sensitivity to sound, can be specific to a particular sound or sound in general.
You can discuss this problem through counseling with a psychologist or psychiatrist. Invite your family to provide support. Counseling sessions generally take place routinely so that psychologists or psychiatrists can explore the root causes and find effective ways to overcome these phobias. Therapy can be in the form of cognitive therapy, meditation therapy, or therapy with the help of drugs. There is also a therapy called desensitization, where people are gradually exposed to the type of trigger phobia, and are taught how to effectively overcome the fear that arises. But this therapy cannot be applied to everyone and must be done by a professional person. Thus our brief review, hopefully you will be helped. Regards.
