Will The Postinor 2 Drug Become Ineffective After An Interval Of 6 Hours When I Drink Coconut Water?
Good afternoon doc, I yesterday afternoon intercourse with my partner, then this morning around 10 o’clock I took Postinor 2 at the same time I took 2 medicines, and within 6 hours I drank coconut water. Does the medicine not work effectively? Does coconut water neutralize the postinor medicine that I take at least 6 hours? And do I have to drink Postinor 2 again, doc?
Thank you for the question.
It should be understood, postinor which is an emergency contraceptive pill, as the name suggests, is only appropriate for consumption in an emergency, for example in victims of sexual abuse. The use of these pills as routine prevention efforts after sexual intercourse is not recommended, especially without a doctor's prescription, given the potential side effects that may arise. It is not impossible, if the way you take these pills is wrong (for example, the dose is lacking or the time of consumption is late), then you can still experience an unplanned pregnancy.
In fact, the effectiveness of emergency contraceptive pills is not greatly influenced by consumption of coconut water. However, to avoid negative interactions, it is recommended to keep the distance between the consumption of this pill with coconut water for at least 1-2 hours. In addition, given that emergency contraception is not a class of over-the-counter drugs, we are not authorized to explain in detail to you what steps should be taken in the condition that you are experiencing right now. It is safer, if you and your partner intend to postpone pregnancy, do not have sexual intercourse, or use appropriate contraception as directed by your doctor or obstetrician.
I hope this helps.
