Wounds On The Face Due To Razor Blades?
Hello, 4 days ago I shaved my beard using a razor as usual. Always cleaned after and before use and don’t forget to close it again. A day later I saw a cut on my chin and started to look a little scab. I try to leave it until the next day the infection is getting more and more prominent. I tried to wash my face up to 3 times a day and yesterday the wound became festering, until now all those infected are festering. What should I do before contacting the doctor? Thanks.
Hello Gilang, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
In general, infections that occur in wounds due to shaving are mild skin infections. Mild infections often do not require any therapy and can heal by itself just by maintaining the cleanliness of the surrounding skin. If a mild skin infection turns into a more severe infection, it is necessary to find out further the cause, is it only caused by poor wound care (clean wound is not maintained, the wound is often touched with dirty hands, the wound is often rubbed, pus is solved, etc.) or because there are other comorbid conditions that cause impaired wound healing (for example diabetes, disorders of the immune system, etc.).
If indeed the wound on your face is currently quite large in size, then here are some things you can do:
Clean the wound using sterile saline and sterile gauze (it does not need to be washed with soap or rubbed like washing the face, rubbing the wound can cause the wound to not dry). Dry the wound after cleaning (aerate it). If you leave the house and a lot of pollution or dirt around you, cover the wound with wound plaster. Make sure the wound remains dry, replace it immediately if it is wet. Do not squeeze the wound let alone try to remove pus in it. Clean the pus carefully as in step No. 1 An infected wound should also be treated with antibiotic ointment. Antibiotic ointment is included in hard drugs that you should not use without going through a doctor's examination first. Therefore, for wounds that have an infection, you should consult a doctor directly in advance, so that you can evaluate directly on wound and given appropriate treatment.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
