some time ago I x-rayed because of complaints back and neck head pain, and sometimes ear pain when I hear a loud sound. Schuller X-ray with results1. The right and left mastoid air cells (-) / (+) between positive negatives are unclear, so what is the explanation if it is negative, what is positive? 2. Parianthal triangle right and left is not flexible3. Damaged lesions in the right-left mastoid region (-) negativeKes: mastoiditis (-) negativePlease explain docsI’m worried, I want the doctor to still ask for a referral from the beginning because my bpjs ran out.
Good morning, thanks for the question
On the Schuller rotgent examination it was concluded that there was no impression of mastoiditis. Mastoiditis is a bacterial infection of air cells (air cells) in the mastoid bone around the inner and middle ear. Mastoid air cells have a function to protect the structure of the inner ear, regulate pressure in the inner ear, and protect the temporal bones in the head from injury. When mastoid air cells become infected, usually due to inflammation of the middle ear that has not been handled properly, it can lead to mastoiditis. If mastoiditis is not treated properly, the infection can spread to surrounding vital structures including meningen and the brain causing meningitis or brain abscesses.
Normally there are air cells in the mastoid bone. If there is an opacification or disappearance of the air cell structure it can indicate conditions such as infection, neoplasms or tumors, blood vessel abnormalities, or changes due to injury. The current complaint from the results of the imaging examination can then be excluded due to mastoiditis, so the treating doctor needs to think of other conditions in accordance with other clinical findings based on symptoms and physical examination results. Therefore consult again with the treating doctor to confirm the results of the examination and the next plan of action.
That's all, hope you can help
