Zinc 20mg Capsules Can Be Used To Cure Acne?
I am Fellis, 19 years old. I have acne scars and active zits but only 2 or 3 active zits. Then I was advised to take 20mg zinc capsules at a dose of 50mg per day. As a result the acne scars fade. But is that okay? Is it normal? Is the dose right 50mg per day? Thank you
Hello Fellis, thank you for asking.
Zinc is one of the minerals needed by the body to support the normal function of cells. Zinc is involved in several important metabolic pathways in cells, therefore zinc is often given as a supplement for people who have diarrhea, intestinal irritation that causes malnutrition, or in skin problems such as acne prone skin.
The need for zinc per day is not large. Zinc can be obtained from animal and vegetable protein sources. Some foods that contain zinc, including chicken, beef, nuts, and seeds. Zinc supplements for adults are available in doses of 50 mg. Depending on the patient's condition, the doctor may give a dose once a day or 3 times a day.
Consult this with a dermatologist. Make sure you take zinc supplements according to the doctor's recommended dosage. Inform your doctor, if you are taking other drugs, because there may be interactions between drugs and zinc. Don't over-consume because zinc can cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Thus my answer, hopefully you are helped. Regards.
